Malaysian official: Enhancing AI literacy essential to expanding access to digital opportunities

     

  Artificial intelligence has become an important part of everyday life, *** AI literacy essential for people to keep pace with technological development, said Mano Verabathran, Deputy Secretary General of Malaysia’s Ministry of Communications, in an interview with Guangming Online during APEC Digital Weeks 2026 in Chengdu City, southwest China’s Sichuan Province.

  Verabathran said China has made significant progress in digital economy development and AI literacy promotion, describing China as a benchmark for other economies. He also called for stronger cooperation among APEC members to share experiences and learn from each other to advance AI and the digital economy.
